The Bryan Talbot Textgallery 1

This is a text only guide to the images on the site of Bryan's: I have created it so that there is more than one way to browse the images and you can choose whichever method suits you best. Also in the Textgallery series is Textgallery Two, Textgallery Three, Textgallery Four, Textgallery Five, and Textgallery Six: alternatively, there are the thumbnail galleries, and the best list of those are on the gallery guide page; and finally for those that just want to see the images with minimum hassle then there is a single page with a link to every image on the site in the image page navigator.

On this page, there are links to the images from Thumbnail Gallery One, Thumbnail Gallery Two, Thumbnail Gallery Three and the covers of the Valkyrie Press edition of Luther Arkwright, and to the Nazz cover gallery images. Bryan suggested that I add to the site a list of all of the complete strips that are on it, and the strip listing is the result.

Thumbnail Gallery One

Victoria Elizabeth Boudicca Miranda Cordelia Arkwright Stuart
This is Victoria, the heroine of the sequel to the adventures of Luther Arkwright: Luther's daughter by Anne and also a Homo Novus.
(82k - approx 29 seconds to download on a 28.8k modem)

  Luther Arkwright
This is the picture that was on the back cover of Issue 5 of the Valkyrie Press series of the Adventures of Luther Arkwright ("The Theater of Cruelty")
(83k - approx 22 seconds to download on a 28.8k modem)

  Zaffra and the Dragon
This is an excellent Sword and Sorcery style picture, done in Bryan's usual excellent style, with amazing attention to detail.
(314k - approx 98 seconds to download on a 28.8k modem)

  Celtic Warrior (part 1)
An entire story on two pages about a Celtic Warrior (what else?!), beautifully realised by Bryan, with script by Lucy Swan and logo and lettering by Amer Anwar.
(396k - approx 120 seconds to download on a 28.8k modem)

  Celtic Warrior (part 2)
The second part of the Celtic Warrior strip.
(380k - approx 117 seconds to download on a 28.8k modem)

Helen Potter, the heroine of One Bad Rat
    (132k - approx 39 seconds to download on a 28.8k modem)

  Luther Arkwright in church
This is a one off picture, from a greeting card, of Luther in church lighting a candle. I always like to think that the candle is in remembrance of Rose - but if it was in remembrance of her, then it would take place after Luther had cast his vibrobeamer into the sea and renounced violence - so maybe it is in memory of another of the alternative Rose's that has died in the campaign against the Disruptors.
(215k - approx 68 seconds to download on a 28.8k modem)

  The Storyteller
Another one-off picture (which reminds me of Murdoch from the Adventures of Luther Arkwright - but who am I to pass comment?!) This image has just been reprinted in the Friends of Lulu book Storytime published at $9,95. They have a website at http://www.friends-lulu.org/
(281k - approx 88 seconds to download on a 28.8k modem)

Thumbnail Gallery 2

  Brainstorm promo pic
A picture released to promote the re-release of Brainstorm Comix.
  The Montage
A montage of all the characters that Bryan has drawn over the years.
(330k - approx 102 seconds to download on a 28.8k modem)

  Graphic Novel Two cover
The cover of the second Graphic novel and one of my favorite images of Luther ever
(281k - approx 89 seconds to download on a 28.8k modem)

  Luther Ascending
One of the most powerful images in the entire series: Luther when he dies for the first time, ascending to the mystic light...
(149k - approx 47 seconds to download on a 28.8k modem)

  The Death of Rose
This is the cover of the third Graphic Novel and shows the death of Rose: it's one of the most moving images of her death in the series, and I bought the third Graphic Novel specifically to own this image and to then publish it on this site.
(267k - approx 1.5 mins to download on a 28.8k modem)

  The Censor
This picture is unconnected with any of the strips: it stands on its own. I think it's an excellent portrayal of a demented censor at work.
(271k - approx 1.5 mins to download on a 28.8k modem)

  One Bad Rat
This is the last panel of the One Bad Rat series, but it stands on its own as an excellent picture. This is the fine art print that Bryan signed for me that I've got framed - and it looks stunning!
(217k - approx 1.25 mins to download on a 28.8k modem)

  The Battle of London
This is the first picture that Bryan has authorised for publication from the forthcoming sequel to the Adventures of Luther Arkwright, and depicts the famous Battle of London.
(300k - approx 1.5 mins to download on a 28.8k modem.)

  Chester P Hackenbush
This is the cover to the single volume edition of the Chester P Hackenbush trilogy. Chester is the Psychedelic Alchemist, whose adventures are detailed in this book.
(205k - approx 1.25 mins to download on a 28.8k modem.)

  Frank Fazakerley
Frank Fazakerley - Space Ace of the Future, is a hysterically funny pastiche of just about every B sci-fi movie / series ever made, and especially of the old black and white Flash Gordon films.
(180k - approx 1.0 mins to download on a 28.8k modem.)

  Ace Wilmslow
Ace Wilmslow's Amazing Rock 'n' Roll Adventures! Ace is a freelance Rock journo who just happens to get caught in fifties private eye aliens-trying-to-enslave-humanity style escapades!
(86k - approx 30 secs to download on a 28.8k modem.)

  Luther's Cross Parallel Teleportation

This is an animation of Luther teleporting from the middle of the battle of London on Para 00.72.87 to the Disruptor base on who knows which alternative? The animation will loop around again after a while.

There is also version two of this animation which is a larger file, but is a clearer view of what is going one than is found in version 1.
(236k - approx 1.5 mins to download on a 28.8k modem.)

  Publicity shot of Bryan
This is a photo of Bryan from 1982 when he was launching the first Arkwright graphic novel.

(56k - approx 19 seconds to download on a 28.8k modem)

  Luther Arkwright
Luther, advancing, in front of a Puritan flag, again from a comic convention's artwork.
(61k - approx 21 seconds to download on a 28.8k modem)

  Evolution (part 1)
The first part of the hilarious Evolution two pager.
(140k - approx 49 seconds to download on a 28.8k modem)

The second half (of two) of the Evolution strip.
(143k - approx 50 seconds to download on a 28.8k modem)

The Luther Arkwright covers

(319k - approx 1.5 min to download on a 28.8k modem)

  The Treaty of St Petersburg

Luther arrives in St Petersburg for the signing of the Treaty between King Charles, the Tzar and Archduke Willhelm of Prussia. Behind him is the Imperial Prussian command ship "Siegfried", that allegedly cost their weight in gold, and the mere sight of which keeps the Serbs and Poles in subjugation.
(281k - approx 89 seconds to download on a 28.8k modem)

  The Firefrost Principle
Octobriana tries to fend off Disruptor Rooks in the Great Pyramid of Giza, while Arkwright uses pyschometry to wrench data and images from Firefrost. The Disruptors were unaware of who Luther was - or more likely were not programmed to expect him to be there - and so after rendering both Arkwright and Octobriana unconscious they simply trans parallel teleport Firefrost away and do not harm them further.
( 149k - approx 47 seconds to download on a 28.8k modem)

  Black Tuesday

Luther and Harry Fairfax standing ready to receive the second wave of General Standish's Special Patrol Group at the fortified manor house in the Maze.
(267k - approx 1.5 mins to download on a 28.8k modem)

  The Battle of London
The Battle of London at it's height, with Rose Wylde dressed as Brittania and leading the Daughters of Albion, Luther about to lob a "Pankhurst cocktail" and Harry Fairfax snarling as he downs another Puritan.
