Bart and Homer Simpson

Bryan says about this image: "An American cartoon writer proposed a Simpsons story to one of the Bongo Comics' titles wherein Homer and Bart end up in a parallel world. In this world everything's more "realistic" and they run up against the totalitarian regime that controls the parallel. They eventually triumph, of course, and return home. The framing sequences at beginning and end would have been produced in the usual Matt Groening style. I'd agreed to draw the parallel world section and did this rough sketch to show how I'd treat the characters. Any more realistic than this and Bart and Homer start to be unrecognisable. Unfortunately the editor decided that the story would be "too disturbing"."
